Commonwealth Games 2010 Website & Its Management

By Sanjay Sharma, Section Projects of QBTPL
Posted on Sun Aug 22, 2004 at 05:58:01 PM EST

The work on preparing for the Commonwealth Games 2010 will start in earnest once the Olympics in Athens 2004 are over. We would like to preserve the stories and news items published earlier on the www.cwgdelhi2010.com site, and also now recast the site as an interactive site, so that it is easier to update as more news soon starts pouring in.

We need to make all the links in the header working, and also all the ones in the navigation bar on top of the left column. All the material can be obtained from the old cwgdelhi2010.com site.

We don't need to put the actual bid documents on our qbtpl.net site, but just give a direct link to the site of the Commonwealth Games Federation site. Need to see if the Bid Update 2 is available on the CGF site, and if so we need to give a link to that too.

Regarding the old news that we had in the right column, we will transfer that to this interactive site. We will create a new section like "Road To Winning The Bid," or something like that, and put all the stories in that. This is purely for the sake of keeping a record of the coverage for historical purposes.

We can also use the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games website to see what sections we are going to eventually need. There is another good website to see Commonwealth Youth Games - Home. And, of course, over time we will transfer all relevant info from the CGF official website to ours - like Member Name and Addresses etc.

Website for PIFF - Pune International Film Festival

By Sanjay Sharma, Section Projects of QBTPL
Posted on Thu Jul 29, 2004 at 08:37:54 AM EST

We have to design the website for the 3rd Pune International Film Festival. The festival will be in Nov/Dec bu we have to prepare a shell by the 2nd week of August.

Last year about 200 films were shown there. Remember it is an International film festival. www.puneinternationalfilmfestival.com is the official site. We also own the domain www.punefestival.com.

One good film site for the Asian Film Festival is at HindustanTimes.com - Osian Cine Fan It gives the major categories and also coverage of international films.

In our case just like we have "Artists - Submit Portfolio" at the www.thepunefestival.com we have to have a section here so that people can submit their films.

We will also carry a listing of the films as they develop, and also a listing of the films shown in the last 2 Pune International Film Festival - PIFF.

Management of Congress4india Website

By Sanjay Sharma, Section Projects of QBTPL
Posted on Sat Jul 17, 2004 at 05:20:36 PM EST

We are developing a website at www.congress4india.com that is a template we would like to approach the Indian National Congress Party with. We would like to make a pitch that a discussion-based website like the one that QBTPL has already developed as a demo would be a powerful tool in helping them get their message out.

We want to transfer all the relevant material that is currently there at aicc.org.in like we did for the Indian Olympic Association website. Additionally, Congress Party also publishes a magazine called Congress Sandesh and that also has a lot of information. This website is run by Sanjay Puri.

We want sections where we can put all the press releases as the come. If there are transcripts of the daily media breifing we would also like to carry that.

We also want people to carry out political discussions on the website, and from seeing the comments that are there on stories of papers like the Indian Express leads me to believe that there are a lot of people who would like to anonymously discuss politics. The www.congress4india.com website should allow that.

We also want to capture the rich history and the secular nature of the Congress party. We want to highlight its manifesto, its Common Minimum Program, and we must gather news of some of the important figures in the party.

Pune Festival Website and Its Development

By Sanjay Sharma, Section Projects of QBTPL

The Pune Festival is a week long extravaganza in mid September. So we want to get a shell of the site out in about a week-10 days. Web efforts earlier have not had strong support and so their efforts were rather limited. Our effort should be to catch the majesty of the festival which coincides with the Ganeshotsav, and during which the whole city comes alive. Last year the website announced to offer the show online - but I am not sure how successful it was. This time we want our site to record as much as it can of the life during that time so that next year we are ready with the best site on the festival.

It is without doubt one of the biggest things there in Pune. There is a gathering of the exponents of arts and culture. All shows are free (but tickets are in great demand) and the shows get good local coverage.

Also there are some (I think 2500+!) Ganesh mandals all over the city and they have their own decorations. Best win prizes. Need some photographs of the better ones in these.

Lot of outdoor stuff like motocross, bullock-cart racing, etc. There should be some good photographs of the older 15 shows.

Some resources to look at are available at

  1. A nice page where an older Pune Festival (which one ?) is described. ganpatibappamorya.faithweb.com/festival.htm . At the bottom of the page are some links to the decorations that were done by some of the mandals.
  2. This website carries some good info and covered the '99 (and probably the '98 editions) http://www.abwebplus.com/punefestival
  3. Here is good site that tells how it connects back to Tilak and Indian Freedom Struggle. www.punenet.com
  4. Ganesh festival on Maharashtra Tourism website Here is their official website which should have some good local images and info.
  5. Website with some nice festival photographs www.amitkulkarni.info
  6. nice long article on the deeper significance and more details at www.sify.com.
  7. the ganesh festival is the biggest in in Pune and Maharashtra. It would be nice to some day expand into covering the Mumbai Ganesh Festival too.

The GurgaonSCOOP.com Website - Free Discussion Space For Gurgaon

By Sanjay Sharma, Section Projects of QBTPL
Posted on Sat Jul 17, 2004 at 05:05:33 AM EST

The www.GurgaonSCOOP.com is a community website that needs to be developed for local Gurgaon. We will post Gurgaon news regularly.

The focus is going to start from Sector 23, Gurgaon. Will also try to get this site up in Google by tying it to the rest of the network of our sites.

On the site people should be able to post questions about services like plumbing, electrician, etc., and receive responses. They should also be able to offer things for sale and buy for free. We will try to see if Sector 23 events - and, later other sectors - are posted, and if necessary create office where people could email/fax/telephone in the event.

We should hope to end up with a site like this www.craigslist.com where each link on craigslist is equivalent to a section heading on our site. By doing this mapping we have a software that can duplicate craigslist, and the development of the community, easily.

What we gain is a prestigious property which we can then try to duplicate from city to city. This is inline with the mission of our company, and that is, to empower communities to come together and create a niche "newspaper" that allows formal news and informal postings and discussions amongst community members.
